Where to Buy Chicago Metallic
Frequently Asked Questions
What types of bakeware do you offer?
We manufacture over 300 different baking pans — including sheet pans, bun & roll pans, cake pans, loaf pans, pizza pans, specialty bread pans, racks & accessories — all designed for commercial bakeries, restaurants, and other foodservice operations. View our selection by browsing the Stock Bakeware section on our site.
Where are your pans manufactured and what materials are used?
Our pans are manufactured in the United States and are made with materials sourced from the US and around the globe. Pan material options include aluminized steel, aluminum, anodized aluminum, hardcoat anodized aluminum, carbon steel, and high strength aluminum alloy.
Are your pans commercial grade?
Yes, all our pans are constructed of commercial grade material and are designed specifically for commercial bakeries, restaurants, and other foodservice operations.
What is aluminized steel?
Aluminized steel is steel that has been hot-dip coated on both sides with an aluminum-silicon alloy. The silicon provides adherence of the aluminum which then protects against corrosion. Aluminized steel is the ideal choice for a wide variety of operations because it has excellent heat transfer characteristics, is very durable, and resists corrosion. With proper care, aluminized steel bakeware will perform exceptionally well.
What are the gauges of material that you offer for sheet pans?
Chicago Metallic’s aluminum sheet pans are available in 12, 14, 16, and 18 gauge. Stainless steel is 20-gauge, 304 grade. Aluminized steel is 22 and 26 gauge.
What pan coating types are available and what are their benefits?
We use our proprietary AMERICOAT® ePlus silicone release coating on all our glazed and pre-seasoned pans. This coating:
- Is food-contact safe and complies with FDA, EU, and other regulations.
- Reduces the need for secondary release agents (such as oil, spray, or parchment) by up to 50%.
- Offers long-lasting performance with approximately 300–600 releases before recoating is required.
How long does the glaze pan coating last?
Our AMERICOAT® ePlus glaze coating will last approximately 300-600 releases, depending upon the products being produced, as well as how well the pans are cared for. Pans used for baking products with a high sugar content may not have as many uses as non-sugary products.
What is the maximum baking temperature?
The maximum baking temperature of any of our pans is 700° Fahrenheit.
Can I buy direct or do I need to purchase through a distributor? Where can I find a distributor?
Our stock pans are available through a wide network of distributors which can be found using our Where to Buy tool. If you need a custom pan or need to purchase more than 250 pans, please contact us to discuss purchasing options.
What is your return policy? Do you offer a warranty?
Stock pans purchased within the last 12 months may only be returned with written authorization from our customer service department. Return freight costs must be paid by the shipper. Returned items must be in unused and saleable condition. Credit shall be purchase price less 20%. No returns on custom pans. Our pans are warrantied against manufacturing defects only.
What are your delivery, shipping, and lead-time policies?
With locations in Humboldt, Tennessee, USA, and Brantford, Ontario, Canada, we offer a wide selection of in-stock pans to help reduce lead times and minimize supply delays. Most stock items ship within 48 hours. For custom orders, lead times vary based on scope and volume. If you have specific timing needs, please let your sales representative know when requesting a quote.
Are there minimum order quantities?
Our stock baking pans are sold in standard case packs. Orders of individual pans incur a $10 broken-case fee. However, if purchasing through a distributor that stocks the pan, you can typically order any quantity with no additional charge, making it easy to get the pans you need for your bakery or foodservice operation.
Are there any special instructions for the use and cleaning of pans?
For glazed/coated pans: Never use sharp or metal utensils; always use wood, silicone, or nylon utensils. Use non‐abrasive cleaners and avoid metal scrapers that could damage the coating. Pans should be hand washed only with pH neutral products – never put them in an automatic dishwasher.
For plain/uncoated pans: Be sure to wash and dry pans thoroughly before storing.
Where do you ship from?
Depending upon the final destination, we ship either directly from our factory in Humboldt, Tennessee, USA or from our warehouse in Brantford, Ontario, Canada.
Do you offer refurbishment, recoating or pan-maintenance services?
Yes — in fact, through our sister company, Pan Glo, we can clean, straighten, recoat, and return your baking pans to near-original release performance. There are 18 facilities across North America that support cleaning, recoating, and straightening services. This service typically costs less than buying new pans, helps maximize return on investment, and supports sustainable operations.
Can your pans be used in conveyors?
Yes, we supply a variety of stock pans and can customize any pan we offer to work with conveyor systems.
Can I order a sample pan?
Please contact your Chicago Metallic sales representative if a test sample is required.
Can I order custom-designed pans? What are the minimums and lead-times?
Yes — we offer custom pan solutions when our stock products do not meet your specific needs. The minimum order size is 250 on most pans (500 for individual bread pans and 200 for bread sets); however, lead times and minimums may vary depending on complexity, quantity, and production schedules. Please reach out to your sales representative for more information.
What is BĀKALON?
BĀKALON refers to a proprietary material from Chicago Metallic that is constructed from high-strength aluminum with a durable hardcoat anodized surface that will not chip, peel, rust, or interact with food, and is safe for use with metal utensils. The dark surface color also absorbs heat when in the oven, allowing for faster baking times at lower temperatures.
What is pre-seasoned BĀKALON?
Pre-seasoned BĀKALON pans are hardcoat anodized aluminum pans that are coated with AMERICOAT® ePlus, the leading silicone coating technology used on all Chicago Metallic glazed pans. Due to the coating, these pans do not require any pre-seasoning.
How can I tell I’m purchasing the commercial Chicago Metallic brand versus the retail Chicago Metallic brand or another brand or look-alike?
Our Chicago Metallic brand is a brand of Bundy Baking Solutions, manufactured in the USA with global materials. We use only high-quality materials and coatings that have been proven for success in the industrial and commercial baking industry. If you see drastically lower-cost versions or unclear branding, we recommend verifying the material type (aluminized steel vs thin aluminum), construction (rim reinforcement, gauge thickness), and coating description. You can always contact us directly to validate product authenticity or if you have questions about a seller.
How sustainable or environmentally responsible are your products?
Our pans are built for long life with heavy-duty construction. The materials used are recyclable at end of life. Our AMERICOAT ePlus pan coating helps extend pan life and reduce the need for additional oils, paper, or other release agents, further promoting waste reduction. We are committed to quality and service, which helps promote operations that last rather than quick-disposable goods. And with pan refurbishment services from our sister company, Pan Glo, you can further extend the life of your pans through professional cleaning and recoating.
